Relieving Stress Naturally
We all know someone who is stressed. Some are more stressed than
others. It can be because they take almost everything personally.
For others, they are feeling down because it seems like things
are crumbling all around them.
If you know a single parent with two or more children then you know
that most likely they have alot of stress. But no matter who they are
in society, if you are stressed your body is going to start giving you
signals.
I am talking about a backache, headache, kidney/bladder infection, high
heart/pulse rate, problems with Asthma and so much more. It is not a
surprise to me when a news article is written about someone dying from
too much stress. People take on too much and become overwhelmed. They
don't know how to break away and take time to themselves. They feel it
is selfish to think of themselves when their loved ones or friends are
in not so great situations.
I personally know because I was stressed and I still get stressed.
However, I have learned from some of my newest friends how to relieve
stress naturally. I am talking about learning to breathe, speak
affirmations, learning to focus ONLY on the positives, changing the way
you talk about anything and everything.
First of all, I am a single mom to three children between the ages of
10 and soon to be 3. I am also an internet business owner, maintain 5
websites, 3 blogs and a full time college student. Need I say more?
Early this summer I got really sick with a urinary infection that went
up into my left kidney. At one point I had a fever of 103.6 and my body
felt like it was on fire. Not ever in my life before had I ever had
this high of a fever. What I learned from this infection is most likely
it was due to overtime, retaining the urine inside my body. I have a
habit of holding things in. I'm not just talking about urine, but
emotional issues. Instead of positively "expelling" them out of me, I
just held them in. I don't like confrontations and I like for everyone
to be my friend although I know I cannot please everyone. So, I just
hold things in. Well, I paid for it.
I am also an Asthmatic. For the last 30 of my 31 years of my life I
have dealt with Asthma attacks, trips to the Emergency Room,
Hospitalizations for Severe Brochitis and Pneumonia as well as plenty
of breathing treatments. I wanted something to help me naturally calm
or even make my Asthma go dormant. As strange as it may sound, it
really does work.
My former Life Coach, Mike performed Reiki on me early last year. The
thing with Reiki is that you have to believe it is helping you. It
helped relieve my stress, physical pains and my Asthma not bother me at
all.
Reiki is just a part of what can naturally be done. If you enjoy
writing, then journaling is an option. Sign up for your own blog which
is free from some websites including Google. Prayer and/or meditation
every morning, mid-day (if allowable), and at night before bedtime is a
great way to Let Go of the days issues. Waking up saying positive
affirmations or words for example: I am having a great day today, I am
thankful for...., I am grateful for...., This is a beautiful day, you
get the idea.
Words are very powerful even if you think they are minor in nature. Words can hurt or heal.
One thing I recently learned at church was how to forgive myself.
Forgiveness can go a long way no matter if it is another person or
yourself. Many of us have chosen not to forgive ourselves which hinders
any positive progress. towards bettering our life. Here is what I have
learned:
I am sorry for: (Ex. being annoyed/annoying; being frustrated; being anxious; being angry; feeling alone, etc)
Please forgive me
Thank You
I Love You
This is how I cleanse myself from feelings that I had become identified
with and wanted to let go of. Even if the first, second or third
time doesn't make you feel completely better just keep going until you
have exhausted the words that describe your feelings.
Prayer and Meditation goes a long way. I make sure to take time for
myself in the morning to let go of things so that I can have a great
day. If something is bothering me then I quickly think of something
that feels good or makes me happy. Positive thoughts make the world of
a difference. The more you focus on the positive the more better days
you will have, the more positive, outgoing and happy people you will
attract into your life. When your life begins to change in positive
ways so will your loved ones.
As I said earlier, words are very powerful. You must watch what you say
to yourself or anyone else around you. Anything negative hinders the
good. You want happy, wonderful times in your life then you must adhere
to speaking positive words.
Avoid words such as try or trying, because majority of the time it
means you are not going to do it. Replace it with the word I am going
to, I will do it. If you know you are not going to do it then say so.
Another word to change is I can't. That is one of the words I have been
working on banning from my children's vocabulary. To me it just means
you won't do it, you are not willing to give it a chance. I'll do it or
I will not do it.
Are you ever around people who talk about and pretty much identify with
the crisis, problem or even a health issue in their life? Many of
those people Wish they could change but when it comes down to it they
do not want to. They are afraid of what will happen if that issue was
resolved.
